What causes neck pain?
Neck pain can occur for a variety of reasons. The most common causes of neck pain include:
Degenerative disc disease
Neck injury from a rear-end collision or sports injury (whiplash)
Herniated discs
Pinched nerves
Overuse or misuse of the neck muscles
In some cases, neck pain can be the sign of an infection. If you have swelling in the neck area or lymph nodes, seek medical care right away.
Neck pain treatment at Hoover Health & Wellness Center, Inc. focuses on providing you with relief by addressing the underlying cause of pain. We will conduct a thorough examination, gather your medical records, and listen to you about the symptoms you feel. We can then offer a recommendation for treatment based on all of this information. Some types of treatment Dr. Edwards may suggest include:
Chiropractic Adjustments for Neck Pain
We may recommend the use of chiropractic adjustments. In these adjustments, we will apply gentle pressure to the impacted area of the spine to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain. Adjustments require the use of gentle force to properly align the spinal column to reduce pinching of the nerves.
Nutritional Support
We may recommend a fitness or nutritional program to you. Your body cannot heal properly without the help of the right nutrients. Our team will talk to you about the proper type of treatment for your needs.
Corrective Exercises for Neck Pain
We may also recommend corrective exercises, rehabilitation (especially if you’ve been in an auto accident) and lifestyle changes as they are appropriate. Our goal is to help you begin to feel better by providing a whole-body approach to wellness. The neck pain you feel may not be related directly to the muscles and ligaments in the neck, but to the health of your spinal column. Let Dr. Edwards and his team help find out why you are suffering and what can be done about it.
